Handmade perfections
What do I mean by that well, can you really achieve perfection when making an item. When I look at the things I have made over the years can I honestly say there have not been a few quirky additions or alterations to the final item.
Let's look at those finishing touches
Extra rows of knitting/crochet
Not quite matching patterns
Size different to pattern
No two items looking identical.
Try as I might my invisible sewing does not always go well and sometimes occasionally one or two stitches become visible.
Counting who would think this could go wrong especially with all the things available to help. Counters that slide on your needles to apps on your phone. Then how do I end up with more or less rows. It was probably the time I made a cup of tea or answered the phone and put it down and either added a row or forgot to.
Matching a side seam can also be a tricky business. Easy if the project is one colour but when you start adding colour and patterns.
As above matching patterns on seams can be tricky
Why do I never do a stitch gauge
Then finally if I make a run of items no two are identical
Why is this all important well that is the beauty of handmade items they are all individual they dont look like shop bought. If you want an item that is identical to thousand others, every stitch is perfect, there is no quirkness then a shop bought item is perfect for you.
