Upcycling junkie

I admit I'm addicted to upcycling, I see something new in everything. You just have to look at the room I call me craft room there are boxes and boxes full of what a lot of people would call junk, broken or just unwanted. I promise myself each day that I will look through these boxes and yes, have a sort out.

But I look and again see what they could all become.

  • a bag

  • a dog tug

  • cushions

  • baby blankets

  • toys

The list in my head is endless, my pile of boxes grow but wait a minute so does my pile of boxes filled with completed projects. So which pile do I reduce, both I hear you say well the upcycling boxes are easy to reduce. But they then only migrate to the completed projects box.

Now these should be the easiest to sell on but, no there are so many crafters like me now, buyers have so much to chose from. With sites like Etsy and Folksy who charge commission smaller crafters find it hard to compete. Unless you don't mind under valuing you hard work then they are for you

Example:

  • an item that can only be sold for £3 by the time commision is paid and postage you are lucky to clear a £1.

Yes it is still a £1 and sell enough it will mount up. Selling online becomes a mind field and to be honest I don't feel I am confident enough at this moment in time to help new crafters know how to make money online; as at this moment I feel like I have hit a brick wall myself.

Note to myself investigate all the platforms I can sell on and I will get back to you. Perhaps that can be the topic of a blog 'Which platform gives the best results"
